Welcome

24th World Congress
of the International Society
for Medical Shockwave Treatment

8-10 September 2022 Prague, The Czech Republic

WELCOME WORD

Dear colleagues, friends, dear shockwave family.

As the ISMST Congress President, it is a great pleasure for me to invite you to the 24th ISMST World Congress, which will take place on September 8-10th 2022 in Corinthia Hotel Prague.

The international ISMST congress is a broad communication platform, where latest news from research and clinical applications of the shockwave science in various fields of medicine and physiotherapy will be presented. A precisely selected program is essential and is structured according to different fields of applications in medicine and covers both extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and radial pressure waves (RPW) technology. Speakers are chosen from leading scientists, physicians and physiotherapists from all over the world.

In addition, you will be able to attend instructional courses for both medical doctors and physiotherapists, in which you will be taught about the technical background of ESWT and RPW, its biological efficacy, and you will practice its application in various approved indications under experts’ supervision

This is an exclusive opportunity to expand your knowledge, meet your colleagues, leading experts in the field, and representatives of the leading manufacturers of shockwave devices, in our “City of Hundred Spires” in the heart of Europe – in Prague.

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and lies on the Banks of the Vltava River. It’s a historical and cultural centre of the Czech Republic, famous for its pulsing lifestyle and unique atmosphere, where the history breathes around every corner, combined with modern architecture, music, art and great cuisine, both traditional and contemporary.

We have a great cultural program during and after the congress, with the possibility to arrange facultative guided tours, not only to famous Prague places, but also to other well-known monuments of our country, including i.e. Český Krumlov or Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) spa city.

I hope that the scientific program and our vision of the congress will bring you to attend. As the pandemic is hopefully nearing its end, even if we’re prepared for a virtual or hybrid variant despite the fact that there are perhaps more global threats nowadays – and I speak about Russian aggression against Ukraine, which our whole society strongly condemns – I’m looking forward to meeting you in person in our wonderful Prague to get a taste of the best it has to offer!

Tomáš Nedělka

24th International ISMST Congress President

Dear colleagues, dear friends,

I have just returned from Prague, where I was able to visit our excellent congress hotel and enjoy Czech hospitality. Currently, preparations for the congress are in full swing and the numerous abstracts are currently being reviewed. We can already look forward to a highly interesting program. I am looking forward to welcoming you together with Tomas Nedelka in September in Prague.

With kind regards
Wolfgang Schaden
ISMST President

The founding

When this society was founded, there were no international cooperations of physicians and researchers dealing with extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT).

Experience

The main purpose of the ISMST is the exchange of the experiences and the knowledge. ESWT has become a frequently used treatment in various indications, many devices have been developed, the treatment protocols became confusing and the outcome of many studies

Congresses

In conclusion, the ISMST is a platform for knowledge exchange and communication for ESWT, the vehicles are annual ISMST Congresses, ISMST Basic Research Meetings and ISMST Certification Courses, and on the other hand the permanent support with news at our homepage.
