Dr. David Hercher is the head of the Neuroregeneration Group at the LBI for Traumatology. He is a molecular biologist by training and focused early on molecular medicine as well as neuroscience. During his PhD thesis at the Medical University of Vienna he investigated the phenotypical differences of Schwann cells after nerve grafting and the influence of ESWT. He has been working for several years at the LBI overseeing projects ranging from the application of novel nerve conduits to the development of novel imaging techniques for nervous tissue using µCT and the effects of ESWT on spinal cord injury.
