Johannes Holfeld is the founder and head of CARE, Cardiac Regeneration Research Group, at Innsbruck Medical University. He graduated from Medical University of Vienna (MD) and was a research fellow at the Cell Signaling Center, Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Texas (Supervisor: nobel laureate Prof. Ferid Murad). Johannes develops shockwave therapy for myocardial regeneration and translated the experimental mechanistic findings of the Care Lab to a clinical RCT (www.cast-trial.com). He serves as a principal investigator of the trial, which aims to show the regenerative effects of cardiac shockwave therapy on ischemic cardiomyopathy in patients undergoing CABG surgery.
